Great article. Interestingly, Anais Nin (1903-1977), whose quotes are used worldwide, wasn't always an obscure writer. In fact, in the 1960s and 70s her works were quite popular amongst young people in particular. Her erotica, 'Delta of Venus,' was a bestseller, and her diary 'Henry and June' was made into a Philip Kaufman movie in 1990 (first NC-17 rating ever).
