Why can't the Trib publish these articles when submitted instead of 2.5 months after they've taken place? It seems there isn't an issue when reporting on A. Lea or AC.

Way to go Trib on a "recently" held event at GE! This was held back on April 14th. Though, it was a fantastic art show and showcased what great talents our young students have.

odb-
The school board is finding a solution without raising taxes for the upcoming budget. You would know this if you would have been at the board meeting last night. Staff and some parents were present because they care about the future of our kids, school, and jobs. Next time, before you open your mouth make sure you are well informed FIRST. This is true for some of you other negative individuals as well. You must be a very happy person to be around when you wake up in the morning!

OldTrojan-you seem to have all the answers! Why weren't you at the School Board meeting tonight?

School Board members are ALL VOLUNTEERS. They choose to participate in the education of our children because they care. They are NOT paid. There were 4 people on last fall's ballot and 3 were elected-1 being an incumbent. They are doing their job and last I heard, no one was grumbling.

I encourage all of you to come to the next school board meeting and voice your opinions. The more the merrier as we are not making a decision now on a 4 day school week. We are in the preliminary stages, gathering information, asking for parents' feedback, etc. It's impossible when you have only 20% of parents that care enough to send a survey as important as this one back-perhaps if parents received them late they didn't think returning it would matter but it does. "geparent" please send your survey to school with your child-it won't be turned away, trust me. We are all in this together. Our children are our future and we owe to them to give them the best education we can offer.

Call your GE school board members to voice your opinion and offer suggestions/ideas.

Thank you

Jake-GE residents don't want to join the Albert Lea district. We like having smaller classes, more 1-on-1 with faculty, and a safe learning environment. Alden DOES NOT make sense either. I want my children to receive a quality education, in MN, not IA, at Glenville. We have extremely talented, energetic, and dedicated staff who are providing our children the tools they need to grow and become intelligent adults.

Janis-As parents, staff, community citizens we need to learn to look beyond what has happened in the past and move forward. We have a Superintendent and School Board who are trying to provide opportunities for our kids in a quality school district. Why do you think Lake Mills, IA is so great? The Emmons school $$ situation was not practical I hate to say.

I would like to say kudos to the Superintendent and School Board for being fiscally responsible and exploring other ways to reduce spending in this economy. We are looking at a state budget that is battering all school districts alike and many are struggling with ways to stay afloat.

The district has a higher fund balance percentage than many around the state. However, with salary increases, medical insurance, etc. the money does not fall from the sky to cover increasing expenses. The amount of $$ given, by the State, for students has not increased in several years. Think of how our living expenses have gone up personally! School districts face this also.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kampa family during this extremely difficult time. May your faith and the support of others bring solace to you.

A fund for the family is/has been set up by the GE PTC (Parent-Teacher Connection) for the family at Citizens' State Bank in Glenville in c/o Faith's name. I believe more details will be out on this today. For more information please call Citizens' State Bank at (507) 448-3981.

God Bless.

leonci-I was one of the 10 volunteers who helped you haul in wood flooring, haul garbage, sweep, and cover the floors. Thank you for letting me participate in this process and you're veryl welcome! It was a great experience participating in the project and helping to accomplish a great task for a family in need of a healthy home.
