I think it is wonderful that this family gets such a great gift. I do not know them but I'm sure they deserve it.
The only thing I wonder is if Larson Contracting is doing this only to do something great for someone else and it has nothing to do with the recognition and PR then why is it everytime I read about this, Larson Contracting is plastered all over it. I would have rather seen the family with the ABC design team then with Al Larson. Keep in mind Larson's is not the only one building this and they are not the only ones contributing to this event. It is a team effort. Guaranteed Larson Contracting, being a commercial builder, could not do this with out alot of other businesses and helpers. So give credit where credit is do. This is not about Larson Contracting its about the family in need. Thank you to all of the other people that are doing this strictly out of the kindness of their heart.
P.S. And if it is all about PR then why doesn't the Tribune offer free hyper links to the businesses contributing. If Larson's is getting free advertising shouldn't everyone else involved.

Wingo... I am not sure but I think the reason Menace 56 called you a hypocrite is cuz you must have prejudged some one in past blogs. Not absolutely sure that is what he meant but that is what I got out of it when I first read it. Maybe not tho.

desertdog... I agree with most of your post that was posted at 2:31. Yes we need to become Americans again. But let me tell you, just because I did not join the military and go over across seas to fight for some other countries freedom does not make me any less of a person or an American than you. Instead I have made a huge contribution on our society by raising two respectful, responsible, and well adjust kids. In these messed up times that is not always easy. I have also contributed alot in my community by volunteering and just being a good law abiding citizen. I bend over backwards to help any of my friends, family, neighbors and even sometimes strangers. So I do not appreciate you saying that any one that has not gone over seas to fight for someone elses freedoms is not worthy. I also think that the ones that join the military to truly just do good and to help their country doesn't put themselves on their own pedistal because of their own choices. That is great you were in the military and you fought for other countries' freedoms, but a real hero doesn't demand to be recognized for their acts and a real hero doesn't put themselves on their own pedistal. There are many that come back from war and don't expect anything from anyone because they just feel like they were doing there job, because they made the choice to have that job. That is a real hero. Just as the firefighters and cops in New York on 9/11 went into those burning buildings--they didn't do it to get recognition they did it to help and because they were simply doing their job. So you should not demand anything for doing your job, the job that you choose. You are no better than me or anyone else that isn't in the military or that doesn't believe in war. We all contribute to our society and others lives in our own way. Someone has to stay here to raise our children and defend our own country while you are over seas defending another country. Someone has to work in the factories, gas stations, construction, retail, offices, police and fire departments, courthouses and many many other things to keep our country from going under while you are across seas fighting for another country's freedom. So get off your high horse. Also I bet your hatered and loathing for an attorney will just disappear if you ever need one. And I know you are now saying I always follow the law so I will never be in that cituation. But keep in mind there is always car accidents, mistaken identities, and some sometimes just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. You hear all the time of innocent people being release from jail. So if you ever find yourself in that situation I hope that you atleast have enough intelligence to hire a lying, and terrible attorney (as you would put it). Good luck you are going to need it!

I have been in that kind of situation. I did go out with friends and we were drinking and driving. I was a passenger in the back seat of a car and my friend drove off a curve at about 90 miles an hour. I was 19 at the time and even then at such a young age, I never once blamed my friend for me being in the accident and getting badly hurt. Why? Because I was an adult that was able to make my own decisions. It was my decision to get into the back seat when I knew full well my friend was drunk. I could have said no and called someone to come get me but I as an adult made the decision on my own free will to get into that car. I now am the designated driver anytime I go out with my friends. If I want to drink I simply stay home and drink. That is a decision I make now as an adult. So to Virginian I am sorry you have had a tragedy in your life, obviously but you need to stop blaming everyone else. If you are an adult that is able to make your own decisions then you need to take the responsibility of those decisions along with consequences. You are holding this Kenny solely responsible well unless he forced the other 5 people into his truck you really can not hold him solely responsible. Yes he is responsible for driving drunk but he did not intentionally go out drunk driving in order to kill two people. The other 5 people are just as guilty as he is because they knew he was driving and did not stop him and elected to ride in his car while he was drinking. So no they were not innocent bystanders like some of you make them out to be. Sadly, two people paid with their lives because of the decisions they made. My heart goes out to all involved!

Okay... first if all I would like to say- Glenville did it to themselves by shutting down the Emmons school. When they did that they lost 50-60 students from Emmons. Most were smart and sent there kids to Lake Mills, a quality school. All because Glenville parents didn't want to ship their kids to Emmons anymore. Well guess you can't have your cake and eat it to.
Secondly, are you kidding me? Do you really think you will be able to hold these students attention spans that long each day. Then, what about the kids in sports. They get up at 6 am to get on a bus they attend school till 4:15, then practice till 7:00 and 2-3 hours of homework. I can guarantee most of you people that are in favor of these changes don't put in 15 to 16 hour days. So untill you start putting in those hours don't expect your kids too.
I have to say Glenville has never had a great track record for making good decisions when it comes to their school. I say give up while you're still ahead and go to Albert Lea or Northwood. And if their is any Emmons kids still going to Glenville -do the smart thing and send them to Lake Mills where they can get a top-notch education, in a good school.
