Unless you have coached at the high school level, it is hard for me to take any comments regarding coaching with any merit. It is easy to be a Monday morning QB. If you don't like what the coaches are doing, get involved. Successful programs have the support of the parents. Also, if you look back in the 70's, how many kids did you have out for football? Better yet, how many kids did you graduate with? My graduating class in 1983(ALHS) was 420. This years class has 240. Pretty slim pickens. We didn't have soccer to compete with either.

As all of your comments are valid, try seeing this thru the eyes of employees that have been thru a corporate take over. I have. While hundreds of employees of the former Musicland Group Inc. lost their job when Best Buy purchased Musicland, the CEO and President left the company with a cool 25 million and a seat on the Board of Directors. While big companies do provide good benefits unless you are at the top, you could be the next to go.
