I look forward to seeing what the verdicts will be for these teen thugs. The rest of the country is watching. Victims' rights must come first.

I sure as heck would never place a relative in that place when it is documented that this abuse went on and on day in and day out for months and NOT a soul noticed! They can talk all they want but people pay good money to have a parent or other relative admitted to a nursing home and at the least, expect some kind of guardianship on a REGULAR basis. This place failed the residents and their families, period.

This case will forever disturb me. As other posters have noted, these residents are someone's father, mother, grandfather, grandmother. The young women are sexual predators. The demonstrate to the world that being rich and young and attractive and blonde has no bearing on whether you are a menace to society. I would be very frightened to have them baby sit for me, take care of my animals, date my sons. They have probably abused animals in the past. They lack a conscience and they lack morals. Their parents provided for their material needs but left them barren wastelands when it comes to morals and compassion. The other girls are equally evil. To sit back and laugh and do nothing shows a startling lack of integrity and compassion. As far as I am concerned, I would never move to a place such as Albert Lea based on what I have read about the general attitudes there. I live in the Washington DC area and I would rather have the types of problems we have in congested areas, than the creepy deliverance type behavior you see in small town applie pie America. It really gives me the creeps.

These young women have put their community on the map for all the world to see. They have disgraced their victims, their victims' families, their own families, their communities, and God. They have villified what a Good Samaritan stands for. It is for these reasons that they must serve jail time, do community service, and pay stiff penalites, get mental evaluations as well as psychological counseling. If not, then the legal system has made a mockery of all victims because it selects out certain individuals while handing out stiff penalties for those who commit lesser crimes but who may be less blond, less cheerleadery, less attractive. Their parents have failed them miserably, but society should not have to look the other way. I would be very leery of this nursing home and others after reading this story, because you expect some semblance of guardianship which these victims never had. Shame on the nursing home community for wanting to "put closure" to this case. To the outside world, the book has just been opened. Joan Harlin
