While out cruising on the Pelican Breeze this weekend, we slowed the boat down to look at the bottom of Albert Lea Lake...and yes, you could see the bottom. It was wonderful. My Thanks go to the watershed and their efforts. There were a lot of happy pelicans with full bellies!

I live right across the street from Shoreland Park, and I can assure you that there are always many kids playing on the equipment there. It is such a wonderful sight to see them outside laughing and having so much fun. The equipment at Shoreland Park has to be more than 20 years old, maybe even 30. The age of the equipment doesn't seem to deter the kids, but I do think having new equipment only adds to the value of a neighborhood. I will admit I have been to the Shoreland Park to see how many turns my stomach will withstand on the dome shaped merry go round...It turns out only 3 or 4 spins and I must jump off! I also love using the green space to practice my bocce ball skills! Yay to all area parks and the fun that is had while using them.

This is great news. It is the "if you build it they will come" theory at work. Meaning, we have stocked the lake, the word is out, now here come the fishermen. Hotels, tourism, and more commerce will follow. Having a positive attitude is half of the battle. The Lakes Foundation has big plans for Albert Lea Lake and surrounding lakes. If you would like more information, please join us at our next meeting on June 18 at the Country Inn and Suites of Albert Lea, 7pm. Right now we are finalizing plans for our biggest event of the year, The Party for the Lakes in August, and also our annual Lake Clean Up. We need manpower and enthusiasm...more projects are in the works, proper marking for hazards on Albert Lea Lake, and a map for anglers and recreation seekers. This is very exciting, and now that Albert Lea Lakes are being recognized, I think big things will happen.
