Probably the biggest reason to get this is that it will be a Canopy wireless system that will cover all of the city with a CF card option or any 802.11 wireless card that is built into your laptop. It will work anywhere in town. Its not really meant for your desktop computer, but it will work fine with it. Go sit in the middle of Todd Park and surf the net without having to steal someone elses wireless.

I don't think that the idea is that people fish the lake itself. It is a perfect habitat for the fry and northern in general. That lake has an outlet that runs west across Bridge Ave and connects through Green Lea to the north end of Fountain Lake. I am sure more than a few of those stocked will make their way downstream into Fountain in the next couple years.

Actually this has been in the cities Capital Improvement Plan even prior to the first "study" on how to improve Bridge Ave.

See Page 15 of the above link. This is the plan written in 2004. Project was budgeted for 2005 and 2006.
...Construct a traffic signal at the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Sykes Street.Project #PW-05-15Priority 3 ImportantJustificationBy 2005, planning may be necessary for traffic signals at Bridge Avenue and Sykes Street. The North Bridge Mall, HyVee, Shopko, and the C-Store generate a large volume of auto trips to and from Sykes Street. Sykes Street also serves a large number of trucks from the North Industrial Park. Traffic counts and accident history will have an impact on if and when this project is completed.

The money for the Rendezvous is not for the weekend public gate, it is to support scholarships for the school kids that attend on the Thursday and Friday before the public. It also goes towards paying the wonderful presenters and reenactors that come every year to put on this event.

That limit is 16 or more from the Minnesota Commercial Vehicle Operations website. Thats why most of those vans you see are 15 or less passengers. Many of the local churches and the schools have vans of this size.

There are children everywhere... Its the responsibility of drivers to watch for kids, but more so a need for responsible parents to keep your kids OUT of the street.
I guess its up to the city / county to post a detour. I was offering a suggestion
My suggestion to tmfresh would be to buy a better map too. Or take that argument up with every mapping service and MnDOT.

Though looking at a map, that description doesn't quite make sense... You should still be able to take Itasca to East Trail / Elm St where the Stables used to be and bypass the closure.
Not sure why the article lists Richway being closed 500ft west to Elm... Should it be Itasca closed 500 W of Richway to Elm / E Trail?

Really couldn't have asked for better weather for the runners. Some great times were put up and it was great to see the amount of support from all of the volunteers and most importantly the participants. Hope to see everybody back next year.
