The biggest slap in the face is the punishment that is actually given to the offenders. Did you know many health care facilities after being told an employee is drunk or on drugs, do NOT fire the person immediately. They are given the opportunity to enter into a treatment facility and once completed, they can come back to work. I’m not sure how many relapses they can have before they are actually terminated, but does it matter? Shouldn’t they be gone immediately? Especially in a health care-related field. If I came into my office drunk, on drugs, or attacked or sexually molested a coworker, I would be fired immediately and that would be that. But, in the health care field, you can come to work drunk or on drugs, and if caught, you’re “punishment” is treatment, and then you can come back to your job taking care of the vulnerable. I think random drug tests should be performed at any health care institution just like they are at many factories. It won’t happen of course, there are too many people that wouldn’t pass.

Answer: I called the Freeborn County Fair office, and if the show is sold out YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK OR A TICKET FOR ANOTHER SHOW. $9 is pretty cheap to see these concerts, if you can get in. If not, pretty expensive just to walk up and down the midway.

What happens if the shows are sold out and individuals already paid to get in? Are refunds given or tickets for another night?

Here’s an idea, why don’t you continue on the current trajectory and make Albert Lea a retirement village. I agree with Mosedart, there are not very many highly educated 20, 30-somethings that are moving to town, with there not being any jobs and all, and the majority of businesses that AL attracts are going to bring the very element that the citizens are scared of, not the white collar jobs that you want. So why not make it an outdoor destination. Fill the downtown area with coffee shops, book stores, and quaint antique stores. You already have the lakes, golf courses, and senior housing. Why fight it, it’s pretty hopeless to get the youth to stay or come back to AL, maybe you should be looking at the retiree.

Probably would have been more if people could actually sell their homes for a decent price.

Ghost and gardenmama. Money. But don't worry, I'm sure sooner or later our tax dollars will install the seatbelts on the buses too.

Well done and best of luck to you. People are too quick to trash things that could be refurbished. It's sad how wasteful we are.

Jake, you started the comments off perfectly. Nothing more needed to be said. I wonder where that one guy is who is glad seatbelt use is a law because it saved his neighbor's, boyfriend's, grandma's life, and then the next comment from the person who lost his great-uncle's, brother-in-law's adopted son because he was wearing a seatbelt and got hit from the side.

The likelihood that they will catch the arsonist(s) is slim. I’d look and see if it was an inside job. People were working at the time and smelled the smoke. No one saw anything? Wonder what kind of insurance payout, unusual amount, etc.

I have to agree with you Virginian. Some people think its entertaining and are getting a good laugh, I smiled when I first saw the poll as well, but the more I thought about it, it is a poll meant to antagonize one another. I’m annoyed when I hear someone attacking the editor for imposing censorship because I assume the hothead probably deserves it by cursing or attacking another poster, but interestingly, that is exactly what this poll has done made one go after another. Some think other posts have shown the ignorance of the contributors, I think this poll has done that.
