One of the huge reasons that our country is in the worst of times in it's history is the election of 2000/2004. The Republican party enticed the Evangelicals to vote for them on the basis of just what this writer is advocating. SINGLE ISSUE VOTING IS A DISASTOR AS IS VIVIDLY SHOWN BY THE PRESENT REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION. Vote for the candidate of your choice BUT make that choice on more than one issue. Please reject this vailed Republican add and look at the REAL issues in the election like the economy, Irag, health care etc. I am sure that Mr. Werner sent the same letter to all the SM papers. He is trying to get votes for a failed candidate and a failed administration like we have never seen before in this country. We need change -- big change in the way our government is run and by voting on just these single issues will only bring us more of the McSame.

What a great story! All these years that I knew you and never had any idea about your military service. I would like to add a story to your's. One of our neighbors who passed away four years ago was a pilot flying from the same base. He told me the story of how he was flying a B-29 on a mission to bomb Tokyo. They had radio silence but the radio man came up to him and said they had to turn around and go back to base. He declined (after several expletives) as they were getting close to their target. The radio man checked again and told Jess (the pilot) Your commanding officer said turn back or be court marcheled. Jess said to his asstonishment as he banked the plane to the right to return to base that he saw this huge plane with a U.S. emblem on the side. "What is that?" he asked. Of course no one knew but he found out after they landed that plane was the ENOLA GAY. Please forward this to Brad with my email address.

Great job Kenny, What a contrast from the 70's & 80's. These people actually have the student's interest at heart rather than their own political agendas.

I can still see the hanging curve ball. Ken Staples a friend who was the Fairmont catcher, was giving me static from behind the plate when the Fairmont pitcher, righthander Loyal Bloxum let go of the pitch. His next utterance was "oh expletive" and I hit it over the left field wall into Renee Wambach's back yard.

WOW -- what a nice story! I remember that the community came together as we raised money to send Gary's Mother and Dad to Germany so they could watch their son participate. A friend, Ken Kraft, who was a coach for the U.S. team and coach of the Northwestern U. wrestling team kept me informed about what was going on in Munich. At this time Greco-Roman wrestling was not very popular but Mn has always been the hub of Greco because of a man Alan Rice who medaled in the Olympics in the early 50's. An interesting note that in this year's Greco-Roman competition in Beijing a former Anoka wrestler, Jake Deitchler will compete as an 18 year old. He just graduated from HS and wrestled in Albert Lea last season with the Anoka team. I watched him in that meet and also win the State Championship in St.Paul. He is a very special wrestler and in a side note, he will wrestle for the U of M next season and the coach of the U of M is the same Jay Robinson that Gary met at the U.S. Military Academy.
Thanks for the memories!!!!!!!!!!
Coach Ehrhard
P.S. In one of the most memorable state championship matches that I remember of the many Albert Lea wrestler's that competed for State Championships, Gary beat a wrestler from Stewartville in the finals of the Regional T. and found himself against the same opponent in the finals of the state when it was held at Mankato State College. They got in a scramble and because of the great balance that Gary had he ended up on top of his opponent facing his legs with his opponent on his back. I am screaming at the official to see that the Stewartville wrestler is pinned and the official quickly gets in position to see it and calls the pin. One for the books, But who was the official? None other than a former State Champion from Albert Lea then residing in Brainard, MERV JENSEN. Way to hustle Merv.

Clyde, Bob and the rest of the surviving family,
I morn the passing of Ruth with you and she will forever be in my prayers and memories. She was another of the great mother's of wrestlers from AL who was a real fan along with Clyde. They remaind loyal fans of AL wrestling to this day. There dedication is truly remarkable. I charish her memory.

The trouble with the Republican party is not what the other Reagan says BUT with it's financial "strategy." In the first great DEPRESSION it was the Republican Administration of Herbert Hoover who "guided" us into financial abiss. Then came the "reviered one" Michael's father who raised the spending level to new heights and made the government bigger. He was then outdone by Bush 1 and then Bush 11 who not only caused a financial crisis here but one that engulfed the whole world. The sad thing is that so many UNINFORMED citicens voted for McCain. Many of my Republican friends simply told me that they were going to "vote their pocket book." To hell with the country just so I won't have to pay for all the nice things government provides for me. Just borrow more from the Chinese ala Bush. When will the masses wake up????
On The Republican Party has become Balkanized
