Are you serious??? That is like asking a criminal to report to the police station once a week to let them know how many crimes he committed.

innovative....VERY well said. We seem to get so wrapped up in our own day to day self pitty pot that we forget about what is really important and that is the children. It must be frustrating as a teacher and the salary that they get for the work that they do. Not to mention their OWN money that they use to make their classrooms look presentable to the kids and make it a conducive learning environment. Most of that money I bet they do not get back. It amazes me that someone who is molding OUR future gers paid less than $50k per year as opposed to someone who is good at scoring points with a leather ball, can make millions. Just doesn't make sense. I apologize to all the teachers out there and will simply say Thank you.

As MissIndependent stated, "You choose to go into certain professions knowing full well the earnings." Which should also apply to the hours and stress considering that most college students start their classroom experience in their second year of college. I respect teachers and all they do and I can honestly relate to how you must feel because I too have a high stress, low paying job that I ONLY get paid for 40 hours per week and, in order to keep up, put in many more hours than that. I was well aware of what I was getting into when I was in college and yet I found that my love for my career somewhat makes up for what I do not receive in salary. To me, that is what it boils down to. If you are not happy, QUIT. Plain and simple. I commend you for your years of service and dedication to your profession and it sounds like you have been rewarded many times for you achievements. Congratulations. As for have three college degrees, I learned early on in my career that rectal thermometers also have degrees. Intellegence does no always equal wisdom.

Teachers...I completely understand that for the work you do, you get paid the equivalent of peanuts. I also understand that you have choices. If you are not happy with your job or the pay, simply QUIT! See what sort of wages you pull in then. I am sure that there are plenty of unemployed teachers who would be thrilled with any sort of wage at this time. Sure, I would love to have a raise. But at this point and time, I am just thankful to have a job period.

I am not necessarly a fan of Rush but I do respect the fact that he has the guts to say what many others can only think. He is probably better off without investing in the NFL anyway. I have to agree with 123noname. I too am tired of the race card being thrown in our faces everytime we turn around. To me, it is getting to the point where caucasian individuals are the ones being descriminated against. People are now being hired because of the color of their skin and not their qualifications ie teachers, coaches, ect. Case in point, Rochester schools not having enough "minority" teachers. Too bad this is all one sided. What I mean by that, is that it should apply to all areas. If my company HAS to employ a certain amount of minorities, the sports world better look at doing the same. Each team in the NBA must have a minimum of 2 white players on the court at all times. The NFL, a minimum of 5. The NHL must have a minimum of 3 "minority" players on the ice at all times...and so on and so on...Who is really being descriminated against these days??

This is such a sad situation. Not for the accused, I could care less about them, but for the victims and their families. It looks like all we can hope for now if they are not justifiabily punished, which they probably will not be, is that this story will be heard by enough people that their reputations will follow them throught their entire lives and this event will haunt them for a long, long time to come.

I personally would not care if I had a pay freeze or not right now. I am just thankful to have a job. I would think that these teachers would feel the same. In my opinion, unions are a joke. If you're not happy with the job that you have and the money that you make, the solution is simple. QUIT! Then see how much money you will make. Suck it up like the rest of us. You have the entire summer off. Get a part time job like the rest of us have to do to make ends meet.

Joker...I agree with you. The problem is that a majority of our wrestlers and hockey players do not go out for football because they don't want to run the risk of getting hurt and loosing their hockey or wrestling season for a team that may not even win one game. If we start producing teams that can compete, I feel that you will see more kids from other sports coming out. Also, definately take a look at the youth football programs. From what I understand, the group of kids from Alden that went to state last year were also the same group of kids that were involved with the youth football program over there the 1st year in came into existence.
