Walking Moai: week 3

Published Wednesday, July 8, 2009

We have another week of moai walking to add to our totals. Some walking moais have really accumulated steps. Two teams have more than ONE MILLION STEPS! (FYI, the leading team in the steps category has 1,327,483 steps, which is approximately 663 miles!) And we aren't even half way done. I won't be posting the rankings for volunteer hours and moai points until week five, but here are the step totals to date:

1) 1,327,483 -- Blood, Sweat and Duct Tape (Indian Hills)
2) 1,058,135 -- AL Lakers (Lakeview)
3) 981,530 -- The Jolly Walkers (Lakeview)
4) 751,352 -- Wanna Hobbie Walkin' Walkers (Hawthorne)
5) 630,746 -- Southside Rockets (Halvorson)

Now for a very important and exciting announcement concerning the online Vitality Compass. Every team that has all its team members either doing or done with the Vitality Compass by next Friday will receive 2 MOAI POINTS! You have over a week to get started on it if you haven't already, so hop to it.

Whether a team has everyone doing the Vitality Compass or not, we want to know how many people in each team have done it. Team leaders, by next Friday (not this Friday, but next Friday), please find out from your team members whether they've started or completed the Vitality Compass and report these numbers to your area coordinators so they can report these numbers to me. A big part of the success of this Blue Zones/AARP project depends on our participation in the Vitality Compass.
