ROCHESTER – The Alden-Conger Knights didn’t only want to win in the sub-section west volleyball semifinals. They wanted to dominate.

&uot;One of our goals was to intimidate them,&uot; said coach Jenny Hanson. &uot;And that is what we did.&uot;

The Knights took control early en route to a 3-0 victory over Lyle/Austin Pacelli Saturday night, winning 15-2, 15-11, 15-6 at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center.

The win advanced the Knights to the title match tonight at 6 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center against Gopher Conference rival Bethlehem Academy, which swept Southland 15-12, 15-9, 15-13 in the semifinals.

Tessa Niebuhr led the Knights with 15 kills, going 33-for-37 on attacks. Emily Brummer was 19-for-25 with seven kills. Shelly Zeller had 13 set assists, Diana Wichmann 11.

Zeller, Niebuhr and Brummer were all 11-for-11 serving as the Knights went 69-for-73 as a team for 95 percent.

Niebuhr had six solo blocks, Alison Newman four.

Hanson said she and the Knights are looking forward to facing Bethlehem Academy for a third time this season.

&uot;We know we can beat them,&uot; said the coach. &uot;Now we just have to go out and prove it.&uot;
