David Doppelhammer, a recent college graduate and native of Albert Lea, is the newest member of the Albert Lea Police Department.

David Doppelhammer, a recent college graduate and native of Albert Lea, is the newest member of the Albert Lea Police Department. He joined the force at the end of November.

Doppelhammer completed his four-year degree at St.Mary’s College in Winona and his skills training in Alexandria.

Although he applied for about a dozen different jobs, the Albert Lea Police Department was the first to offer an interview and a position on the squad. Which, according to Doppelhammer worked out well.

&uot;I was born and raised here. I like the town, and all my family is still here,&uot; Doppelhammer said.

He was initially interested in police work because he like to interact with a variety of interesting people, he said.
