Each year the breakfast features one of the local elementary schools. Featured this year are students from Hawthorne Elementary School. The students and their teachers will present musical numbers. Also performing this year will be part of the Albert Lea High School show choir.

There will also be poetry readings, a reading by former Mayor Marv Wangen, and other local musical talent will perform appropriate numbers for the Martin Luther King holiday.

The breakfast is the community’s celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday and his message. The message always includes Dr. King’s call to be a volunteer in your community: &uot;A day on and not a day off.&uot;

A continental breakfast will be served. A $2 donation is suggested to cover expenses.

The sponsors for the breakfast are the Freeborn County Community Action Program, City of Albert Lea Human Rights Commission, Family Y, District 241 Area Learning Center, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, and the Albert Lea Medical Center/Mayo Health System.
