LE CENTER – The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers put it on cruise control in the second half.
That’s because it was basically over by halftime.
The Panthers led from start to finish Tuesday night, winning 60-44 in a nonconference girls’ basketball game at LeCenter.
&uot;Our girls played great team defense and scored a lot of fast-break points,&uot; said NRHEG coach Mindy Sparby. &uot;The girls played with a great deal of confidence.&uot;
The Panthers took control early, leading 18-9 at the end of the first quarter and 34-19 at halftime. It was 46-31 after three quarters.
Holly Waldhauser led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points.
Lindsey Cornelius and Erin Anderson scored 11 points apiece, Breanna Johannsen nine, Rachel Andree eight.
&uot;It’s fun to see three players in double digits,&uot; said Sparby.
Jenifer Brouwers had a team-high 12 rebounds and four steals. Cornelius added five rebounds, Anderson four. Kelli Schlaak had two assists.
The Panthers were 26-for-55 from the floor and 6-for-19 on free throws while LeCenter went 15-for-52 and 14-for-29. The Panthers outrebounded the Wildcats 34-25 and had 16 turnovers to 14 for LeCenter.
The Panthers return to Gopher Conference play Friday at Medford.
