Six injured in accident

Six people were transported to the hospital following a Thursday night accident north of Emmons, and a rural Albert Lea man is being held in jail on charges of felony vehicular injury, police said.

Six people were transported to the hospital following a Thursday night accident north of Emmons, and a rural Albert Lea man is being held in jail on charges of felony vehicular injury, police said.

Kristopher Earl Houg, 21, of rural Albert Lea, was traveling southbound in County Road 14 in a 1994 Buick Century station wagon when he lost control of the vehicle. The car left the road sideways, struck a power pole and rolled, injuring six passengers, police said.

The collision resulted in a loss of power to the Emmons area.

Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services could not be reached for details on the outage.

One passenger, Samantha Anne Fistler, 21, of Rochester, was admitted to Naeve Hospital with a possible broken femur, police said.

None of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, police said. Alcohol was a &uot;major factor&uot; in the incident, they said.

Houg was arrested on vehicular injury charges and is being held in the Freeborn County jail.
