According to Brian Jergenson, public affairs representative for the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the $11.4 million project should be completed by November.

Jergenson said the project will cause some ramp closures and single-lane restrictions beginning Tuesday along with the closure of the Hayward rest area.

&uot;We want people to be aware of possible delays and the presence of workers in the construction zone along the interstate,&uot; said Jergenson. &uot;All motorist should use some extra caution on I-90 this summer.&uot;

Jergenson said the following ramps will be closed until at least mid summer:

n Eastbound ramps to the north and south of I-35. Motorists can also expect detours east on I-90 to the Co. Rd. 26 exit ramp at Hayward and then back west on I-90 to I-35.

n North and southbound I-35 ramps to eastbound I-90. Traffic will be detoured west on I-90 to the Co. Rd. 22 (North Bridge Avenue) exit ramp then back east on the I-90 entrance ramp.

n Eastbound I-90 entrance ramp from Hwy. 13. Traffic will be detoured north on Hwy. 13, east on Co. Rd. 14 and south to the eastbound I-90 entrance ramp at North Bridge Avenue (Co. Rd. 22.)

n Eastbound I-90 entrance ramp from Co. Rd. 26 at Hayward. Traffic will be detoured to the Co. Rd. 46 entrance ramp at Petran.

n Eastbound I-90 exit ramp to Co. Rd. 46 at Petran. Traffic will be detoured on I-90 to the Co. Rd. 26 exit ramp at Hayward.

Jergenson said most of the ramps and the Hayward rest area will reopen in late summer or early fall, followed by the closure of several other ramps including the eastbound I-90 ramps at North Bridge Avenue.

The contractor, Ulland Brothers, Inc. of Albert Lea, is required to reopen the eastbound I-90 exit ramp to North Bridge Avenue within 30 days after closing, Jergenson said.
