The Glenville-Emmons Wolverines and United South Central Rebels were up to it.

The Wolverines saw their season end but played well while the Rebels remained alive during weekend action at Caswell Park in Mankato.

Glenville-Emmons, competing in Section 2A, lost 5-0 to Cleveland and 7-6 to Blooming Prairie in nine innings Saturday.

A hard-throwing Cleveland pitcher was the difference in game one as the Wolverines struck out 11 times.

&uot;We had hits, but they were scattered,&uot; said coach Bob Staska.

Megan Avery was 3-for-3, Fallon Lorenzen and Jill Yost 2-for-3. Jill Delger pitched.

&uot;We gave them some unearned runs early, and that kind of took us out of it,&uot; said Staska.

In game two, the Wolverines gave up the tying run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and allowing the winning run with two gone in the last of the ninth.

&uot;It was a tough game to lose,&uot; said Staska.

Sheri Lair was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, Brooke Erickson 2-for-4 with a triple, Yost 2-for-5. Jolene Peterson tripled. Lorenzen, Avery, Delger, Jenni Rayman and Katie Kimble each had one hit. Delger again pitched.

&uot;Defense was our strong point all year, but it kind of left us today,&uot; said Staska, whose team finished 15-10.
