GLENVILLE – They waited at the start, and they waited again in the fourth inning of game one.
For the Glenville-Emmons softball team, it was worth it.
The Wolverines weathered the rain – and even some lightning – and was rewarded with a doubleheader sweep, 8-6 and 16-8 over LeRoy-Ostrander/Grand Meadow at Glenville Thursday.
Jill Yost had two of the team’s five hits in the opener. Brooke Erickson, Sheri Lair and Katie Kimble added one each. Jill Delger pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs while striking out five and walking eight.
Jolene Peterson was 3-for-4 in the second game as the Wolverines totaled 15 hits. Yost, Delger, Jenni Rayman, Kimble and Fallon Lorenzen all collected two hits. Erickson and Lair had one apiece. Jessica Claussen pitched a four-hitter.
&uot;I was real happy with the way we swung the bats,&uot; said Wolverines coach Bob Staska.
The Wolverines, 6-6 in the Southeast Conference and 9-6 overall, host Houston Monday.
