Rebate checks will be flying left and right this summer. President Bush’s tax cut plan will result in tax rebate checks hitting the mailboxes later this summer.

Married couples can expect to receive checks of up to $600; single parents may get checks up up to $500 and single taxpayers may get checks of up to $300.

And when the Minnesota Legislature finally gets down to business and approves a new spending plan, it’s expected that Minnesotans will receive sales tax rebate checks that won’t be as much as the largest ones we’ve received and it won’t be as small as the smallest ones we’ve received.

With all the checks in the mail this summer and fall, there’s a good chance the economy will get a boost by an increase in spending.

Unless, of course, we all go broke paying for gasoline that costs more than $2 a gallon this summer.
