&uot; We’re expecting to bring in between 8,000 and 10,000 people,&uot; said organizer Jared Dawson.

In only its second year, Borderfest has become one of the largest summer events in the area. This year, in addition to the Johnny Holm concert Thursday, the festival continues Friday with a parade, street dance and midnight golf tournament. Saturday features a 5K walk, a sand volleyball tournament and car cruise culminating with a concert with the Killer Hayseeds until midnight. The weekend concludes Sunday with a community church service and antique tractor pull. Dawson said the 24-member Borderfest committee spent about $35,000 in preparation for the event.

&uot;If all goes well, we’re planning on making Borderfest an annual event – always the second weekend in June,&uot; Dawson said.
