The Third Annual Doc Evans Jazz Festival and annual Art in the Park Festival will be held in Albert Lea, on Saturday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival, held at Fountain Lake Park, is free.

The bands performing are the Bill Evans Jazz Band, Pigs Eye Jazz Band and the Raiders of the Lost Art. A parade will follow the performances at 6 p.m.

Available at this year’s festival will be a brand new reissue of a classic Doc Evans recording from 1953. Recorded live at the Walker Ail Center in Minneapolis, this CD features Doc introducing each tune. This reissue is released by the Doc Evans Jazz Festival, a non-profit organization.

Minnesota Festival Theatre will present the musical &uot;Always…Patsy

Cline&uot; by Ted Swindley, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for

adults and $8 for students. The show will be performed at 147

North Broadway. To reserve tickets, call 1-800-944-5260. Box

office hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and

one hour before performances.

The Pelican Breeze will have a Pizza Cruise at 6:00 pm. Reservations

must be made by 4:00 pm by calling 507-377-5076.

Saturday, July 7

County fairgrounds, has free admission from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, July 8

Family Tradition will perform a free concert at Edgewater

Park at 1:30 p.m. This is the group’s first performance this

year, and will feature popular country music, old time waltzes

and polkas, gospel tunes and other well-known melodies.

The Albert Lea Art Center opens an exhibit by Harlan Bang

with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at 224 South Broadway.

dock at Frank Hall Park at 2:00 p.m. No reservations are needed.

The Albert Lea Elks Lodge #813 will host the annual soccer

shoot at the Brookside Soccer Field for children 8 to 13 years

old.

Registration is free, and trophies will be awarded to first,

second and third place scorers.

The 8-9 year old shoot begins at 5 p.m. The 10-11 year old shoot

begins at 5:45 p.m. The 12 -13 year old shoot at 6:45 p.m.

Shooters should arrive 15 minutes before their age group begins
