‘Godspell’ finale tops list of weekend events

This is your last chance to catch the Minnesota Festival Theater’s performance of &uot;Godspell,&uot; as it closes Saturday.
The performances top the list of events in the area this weekend, which includes:
Friday, June 27:
Minnesota Festival Theatre presents &uot;Godspell&uot;
for the last weekend at the Albert Lea Civic Theatre. The musical,
which starts at 7:30 p.m., depicts a retelling of the book of
St. Matthew in a rock/ folk setting. Tickets are $15 for adults
and $8 for students. Call the box office at 377-4371 for information.
Saturday, June 28:
Grace Bible Church, 1416 West Main, will have a craft, bake
and rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be served.
The Albert Lea Farmers’ Market opens at 9 a.m. in the Wal-Mart
parking lot.
A chicken dinner benefiting the 2002 Borderfest will be held
from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Emmons Legion Hall. The cost is $6 per
person for grilled chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, rolls
and coffee. Additional drinks can be purchased at the Legion.

Sunday, June 29:
The Luverne Concertina Band will present a free program of
live music at the Edgewater Park bandshell beginning at 1:30
p.m. The concert will feature waltzes, polkas, and other favorite
melodies.
