OWATONNA – The only thing coach Todd Lange was disappointed with was the final score. He had no qualms with the play of the Albert Lea High School girls’ soccer team.

The Tigers lost on a pair of second-half penalty kicks Tuesday night, falling to 0-3 with a 2-1 setback at Owatonna.

&uot;The only thing I was disappointed with was the outcome,&uot; said Lange. &uot;The way the girls played, I was pleased. It’s a hard one to lose, but I think the girls played well and we are improving. It’s only a matter of time.&uot;

The Tigers’ lone goal came at the 25-minute mark of the first half, on a long, booming kick by Amy Ravenhorst that sailed over the goalkeeper.

The Huskies’ penalty kicks came at 22 and 30 minutes of the second half. They outshot the Tigers 19-10.

Goalie Liz Reynen had an outstanding night, according to Lange, while sweeper Stephanie Overgaard and stopper Katie Dooley also played well.

The Tigers’ junior varsity lost 3-0 while the ninth-grade team won 3-2.

The Tigers return to action Thursday with a 7 p.m. Big Nine Conference game at Rochester Century. The junior varsity and freshmen start at 5 p.m.
