The fire was reported to the police around 10:36 a.m. The County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters from Freeborn and surrounding cities arrived at the scene, but could not prevent the flames from burning down the structure.

According to the sheriff’s office the 50-feet long and 30-feet wide storage house, owned by James Chicos, had hay inside. The police suspect lightning hit the building on Saturday to ignite the hay, and a small fire kept smoldering in the hay.
