Home Depot leads $4.3 million in August building permits

Real confirmation for the addition of a new Home Depot to the area business community came during August with the issuance of a building permit with a valuation of $3 million by the City of Albert Lea Inspection Department.

Real confirmation for the addition of a new Home Depot to the area business community came during August with the issuance of a building permit with a valuation of $3 million by the City of Albert Lea Inspection Department. City records show this permit will be for a 97,000 square foot store at 2400 Consul St., and east of the city.
Also, during August, the Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office issued permits for the construction of new buildings for Com-Tec and Knutson Oil in Glenville. These buildings will replace structures destroyed during the May 1 tornado.
The latest report from the city’s Inspection Department shows 58 building permits with a total valuation of $4,307,188 were issued in August This increases the total for building permit valuations to $12,305,101 for the first eight months of 2001.
At the end of August 2000, the city’s report shows a total valuation of #$11,772, 076 for permits issued.
A permit with a valuation of $361,000 was issued for construction of a new 44 foot by 88 foot convenience store for Kwik Trip, 906 W. Front St.
The City of Albert Lea acquired a permit with a valuation of #325,000 for a 56 foot by 42 foot waste water treatment plant and a 24 foot by 32 foot pump generator building at 1623 Margaretha Ave.
Alamco, 1410 W. Ninth St., was issued a permit in August with a valuation of $213,000 for the construction of a 50 foot by 150 foot storage and metal fabrication building.
School District 241 acquired a permit with a valuation of $59,000 for a roofing project at Southwest Junior High School, 1601 W. Front St.
The Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office issued 28 building permits with an estimated valuation of $1,307,144 during August. This increases the approximate valuation for permits issued during the first eight months of the year to $6,048,634.
Knutson Oil of Glenville was issued a permit with a valuation of $130,000 for the construction of a new office, garage and storage building.
Com-Tec, also of Glenville, acquired a permit with a valuation of $98,700 for the construction of a new office and service building.
During August, the county’s report list permits being issued for six new homes and four home additions.
