BLOOMING PRAIRIE – How did the NRHEG Panthers take their first Gopher Conference volleyball loss of the season?

They took it out on their opponents.

Two nights after sweeping Alden-Conger 3-0, outscoring the Knights 45-5, the Panthers pounded Blooming Prairie 3-0 Thursday, winning 15-5, 15-0, 15-7.

The Panthers, 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference, sustained their first league loss of the year 3-0 Monday at Bethlehem Academy. According to coach Jackie Schultz, they were still feeling the effects Thursday.

They responded by serving up nine aces, four by Kelli Schlaak who was 12-for-13 with 10 points. Setter Erin Anderson had 12 assists, going 10-for-10 serving with five points. Ellen Johnson had a team-high three kills and five digs and was 5-for-6 serving with five points.

Other statistics: Elizabeth Schultz, 9-for-10 spiking, two kills; Lindsey Hendrickson, two kills, 7-for-8 serving, five points; Rachel Andree, two kills; Camille Kyte, two kills, 3-for-3 serving; Emily Horan, 9-for-10 serving, two aces, eight points; Megan Routh, 4-for-5 serving, three points, one kill; Lacey Peterson, 4-for-4 serving, three points; Kelsey Berg, 4-for-5 serving, three points; Chelsy Quiram, one kill, three digs, 2-for-2 serving.

The Panthers face Waterville-Elysian-Morristown at New Richland Tuesday.
