These were among the incentives for the Northwood-Kensett Vikings.

They needed each and every one.

The Vikings rallied to tie Rockwell-Swaledale late in regulation and went on to win 21-13 in Iowa high school football Friday.

The visitors jumped on top early, scoring on a 74-yard punt return and a 19-yard pass in the opening quarter.

It wasn’t until 4:52 remained in the third that the Vikings got on the board with a 44-yard scoring run by Tom Carmody. Josh Reindl kicked the PAT.

The Vikings knotted it with 1:41 left on Nathan Loberg’s 1-yard run, but the kick was blocked.

Joe Fierova scored in overtime on a 4-yard run. Carmody ran for the two-point conversion.

Fierova led the Vikings in rushing with 87 yards.

The defensive leaders were James Erickson with 16 tackles and Loberg with 11.

The Vikings, 4-0, travel to CAL-Dows this Friday.
