That’s what made Friday’s game so big. The Panthers, blanked 35-0 in their season opener, were hoping to bounce back in a big way.

They did.

The Panthers scored a shutout of their own, defeating Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 27-0.

The difference, according to coach Adam Barner, was emotion.

&uot;We came off the ball better,&uot; said Barner. &uot;I’m just glad the kids really rose to the occasion emotionally.&uot;

Chris Matthies ran for 112 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensive leaders were Jens Wyrum, 12 tackles; Matt Christensen, nine tackles, one sack; Matthies, eight tackles; Kyle Utpadel, eight tackles; Michael Hullopeter, seven tackles; Isaiah Lundberg, five tackles, one sack.
