A pontoon boat on Fountain Lake was destroyed by fire overnight, and the Albert Lea Fire Department is investigating the cause.

A pontoon boat on Fountain Lake was destroyed by fire overnight, and the Albert Lea Fire Department is investigating the cause.

Firefighters responded to a fire report at 12:58 a.m. to find the pontoon on fire in its lift. After the fire was extinguished, the department decided to wait until daylight to pull what remained of the boat out of the water, said Albert Lea Fire Department Captain Mark Roche.

The pontoon was located at dock 227 on Channel Road.
