Her replacement proved more than adequate.

Sophomore Crystal Rentz, who was in goal earlier in the evening for a 3-0 junior varsity victory, took over and combined with Reynen in a shutout as the Tigers played to a 0-0 tie with Austin at Marcusen Field Thursday night.

&uot;Crystal did a fantastic job,&uot; said ALHS coach Todd Lange. &uot;She picked up right where Liz left off. Each had 10 saves. They split it right down the middle.&uot;

The status of Reynen was wait-and-see, according to Lange, with a possible visit to the doctor today.

The play that sidelined Reynen was typical of the game.

&uot;It was real fun to watch,&uot; said Lange. &uot;There was intense play the whole time, and in both overtimes.&uot;

The Tigers had several excellent scoring chances, the majority by forwards Brooke Plantage and Amy Marka.

Austin outshot the Tigers 20-19.

The Tigers’ defense did an outstanding job in front of Reynen and Rentz.

Playing particularly well, according to Lange, were defenders Steph Overgaard and Kaci Bergstrom, and midfielders Katie Stenseth and Laura Olson.

&uot;We had great fan support in Austin,&uot; said Lange. &uot;That was nice to see.&uot;

The Tigers’ junior varsity won 3-0. Stacie Armstrong, Jerri Mondeel and Lindsey Sorenson scored the goals, with assists by Sydney Staloch and Julie Stapleton.

The Tigers, 2-4-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the Big Nine, host Winona Saturday with games at 1 and 3 p.m. at Hammer Field.
