While displaying an American flag Wednesday, Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 6 and Minnesota Association of Professional Employees unions continue their strike at the Riverland Community College entrance in Albert Lea. They said they are hopeful about the renewed talks between their unions and the state which begin today; they are willing to give a little if the state can give a little as well, they said. These striking members said their main concern is the insurance package offered by the state. Gov. Jesse Ventura said Tuesday on Minnesota Public Radio that in order to meet the unions’ demands, he must either raise taxes or cut some state jobs. For more on the state employee strike, see Page 14.
