Hollandale met St. Paul’s Lutheran of Latimer in the opening round. Adam Godeke put Hollandale on top 1-0 with the only goal of the first half. In the second half, Daniel Brandt and Robert Heijerman each scored a goal while Tyler Peterson held the visitors scoreless.

In the other opening-round matchups, St. Paul’s Lutheran of Fort Dodge blanked Kanawha Christian School 2-0 while Timothy Christian of Wellsburg shut out St. Paul’s of Fort Dodge by a score of 5-0.

With Timothy Christian slotted into the championship game, the Hollandale players watched as Kanawha surpassed St. Paul’s of Latimer 3-1. Kanawha continued the momentum into the third-place game, where it defeated Latimer 1-0.

Both the Hollandale and Timothy Christian players were nervous and as the championship game began. It was a rematch of last year’s title game, in which Hollandale won 1-0 on a penalty kick. This year looked to be just as close.

Despite scoring chances for both teams, it remained scoreless through the first half.

It remained that way until the visitors took advantage of a brief defensive breakdown following a free kick, scoring with only four minutes remaining.

Hollandale kept the pressure on but Timothy Christian played tough defense to finish it off.

Members of the Hollandale team included Godeke, Brandt, Heijerman, Tyler Peterson, Blake Peterson, Ben Czaplewski, Rachel Rietsema, Lisa Wedel, David Kelly, Adam Wilkie, David Reed, Lindsay Park, Emily Gaudian, Jenna Godeke, Peter Fores, Aaron Troe and Jason Randall. The coach was Shawn Yates.
