CONGER – A Conger bank was robbed by an armed man Friday morning. The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched, but the suspect is still at large. The police have not disclosed the amount robbed at this moment.
According to the investigation, the suspect entered Americana National Bank on William Avenue around 9:30 a.m.
The suspect showed a gun and demanded money. Then he grabbed a cloth bag, into which tellers put cash, and ran away.
Three tellers and one customer were in the bank at the time of the robbery. The suspect neither fired nor pointed the gun at them, and nobody was hurt, the investigators said.
The man fled the scene with a blue mid-size car, according to the investigators.
Witnesses described the suspect was around six-feet tall and in a camouflage coat with his face covered by a stocking cap. The police also noted that he had whisker hairs.
The police ran to the scene immediately after they received the report from the bank. The police tired to spot the described suspect vehicle but were unable to find it.
A witness remembered the suspect car’s number plate but it turned out to be wrong, according to the police.
