The testimony of a former Albert Lea High School student alleging sexual mistreatment by an ex-band instructor continued Wednesday, following the previous day’s examination by the County Attorney Craig Nelson.
In his cross-examination Samuel A. McCloud, attorney for Russell Allan Konrad, scrutinized the testimony and past statements to investigators and tried to prove inconsistency.
Part of McCloud’s focus was words Konrad uttered during one of his alleged inappropriate physical contacts.
To the examination on Tuesday she testified that Konrad was telling her that she was sexy. However the statements she made to authorities did not refer to the utterance.
McCloud also questioned why she did not report the incidents to the school or her parents sooner. Allegedly she was forced into physical contact six times in about two months between March and May of 2000.
Eight more witnesses for the prosecutor were called Wednesday. The trial will continue on with other witnesses’ testimony today. It is uncertain if the trial will reach the verdict within the day.
