The replacement is intended to trim down the annual $45,000 electricity bill that the current three 30-year-old condensers generate.

The new devices consume less than half the energy, which will provide the county $26,000-per-year savings.

The equipment and installation cost $106,700. The county will apply $23,000 from its savings to the payment for five years.

At the county’s request early this year, Alliant Energy conducted a building study and proposed the replacement.
