The The Albert Lea B-squad boys’ basketball team has had a strong start on the season, winning its last two meetings to go into the holiday break at 3-3.

The Bengals opened with a win at United South Central, then absorbed losses to Owatonna, Mankato West and Rochester John Marshall before getting back-to-back victories at Faribault and home against Waseca.

&uot;The great thing about this group of boys is their willingness to go out and try to improve their game each minute on the floor,&uot; said Bengals coach Jeff Marty. &uot;That is the essence of high school athletics, demonstrating why they are an important asset in a well rounded education, and this crew embodies that greatly. Their sense of teamwork has improved dramatically in the early season and shows a great foundation to build on. We have focused on rebounding and defense, letting the offensive end develop with the players according to their team personality.&uot;

Team Members are Eric Shahan, Jay Ackerman, Eric Drommerhausen, Ryan Steele, Stephen Thorn, Ross Habben, Kenny Suniga, Mitch Kortz, and Tyler Wiese.
