MANKATO – It was not a perfect game for the Albert Lea High School boys’ hockey team.

But it was a victory.

The Tigers got back on the winning track at Mankato West Thursday, rallying for a 4-2 Big Nine decision.

&uot;We played well enough to win, but we didn’t play our best game by a long shot,&uot; said ALHS coach Roy Nystrom. &uot;West was ready to play and took it to us pretty good for a while, but we were able to get the goals we needed.&uot;

Matt Bracker, Adam Boelter, Tony Dugstad and Tyler Hegwood scored for the Tigers, with assists by Matt Petersen, Travis Miller and Casey Schumaker.

Goalie Matt Tubbs played a very strong game, according to Nystrom, as did the line of Schumaker, Dugstad and Hegwood.

The Tigers outshot the Scarlets 27-18. Nystrom said there were too many penalties to mention.

The Tigers, 6-3 in the Big Nine and 8-7 overall, play Saturday at 3:30 at Rochester John Marshall.
