MANKATO – The Albert Lea High School boys’ swimming and diving team got back on the winning wave Tuesday night.

The Tigers, who dropped two dual meets after starting the season 4-0, defeated Mankato East 101-84 in a Big Nine dual.

Albert Lea claimed eight firsts.

Ben Schreiber was a double winner, taking the 200-yard individual medley in 2:19.28 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.04.

Also winning individual races were Chris Borge, 200 freestyle, 2:16.85; Justin Elwood, 100 butterfly, 1:04.14; and Mitch Johnson, 500 freestyle, 5:29.37.

Ethan Berg, Schreiber, Elwood and Ryan Lowe won the 200 medley relay in 1:54.99 while Ben Lindeman, Johnson, Berg and Elwood combined to take the 400 freestyle relay in 3:39.21.

Other Albert Lea places: Colton Jensen, second, 200 free, 2:05.3 and second, 500 free, 5:30.73; Johnson, fifth, 200 free, 1:59.9; Ben Matheson, second, 200 IM, 2:20.52 and third, 100 breast, 1:11.44; Lindeman, second, 50 free, 24.9; Justin Elwood, fifth, 50 free, 26.09; Adam Muilenburg, third, diving, 110.4 points; Berg, second, 100 butterfly, 1:04.21 and second, 100 back, 1:06.37; Josh Elwood, third, 100 butterfly, 1:06.97 and fourth, 100 back, 1:10.82; Lowe, fourth, 100 free, 58.02 Borge, fifth, 500 free, 6:02.74; Chris Jackson, fifth, 100 breast, 1:17.34.

The Tigers are off until Thursday, Jan. 24, when they face Austin in a 6 p.m. Big Nine dual meet in the ALHS pool.
