Albert Lea recorded a plus for building permit valuations in 2001, according to the December report from the city’s Inspection Department.

This report shows 25 building permits with a valuation of $1,487,269 were issued during December. This resulted in an increase to $19,383,129 for the total valuation of building permits issued in 2001.

At the end of 2000, the city’s report showed a building permit valuation of $15,342,599 for the final total.

A permit with a valuation of $1,200,000 was issued to the Albert Lea Medical Center, 404 Fountain St., for what was listed as &uot;ambulatory services relocation and remodel.&uot;

Bunnell’s Donut Hut, 1201 E. Main St., was issued a permit with a valuation of $52,000 to remodel the former Kwik Trip building at the northeast corner of Main Street and Garfield Avenue.

The Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office issued a dozen building permits in December with a valuation of $310,500. This increases the total valuation for building permits issued by the county during 2001 to an estimated $8,057,970.

At the end of December 2000, the county had issued building permits with an estimated valuation of $9,330,050.

During December the county issued a permit with a valuation of $95,000 for an addition to the Office Bar in Glenville. Also, in December, a permit was issued to the Hollandale Marketing Association with a valuation of $47,200 for a steel building.

One of the most significant city permits issued during 2001 had a valuation of $3 million and issued in August for the construction of a new Home Depot store at 2400 Consul St.
