WINONA – The long trip to Winona probably seemed a little shorter on the way home for the Albert Lea High School boys’ swimming and diving team Tuesday night.

WINONA – The long trip to Winona probably seemed a little shorter on the way home for the Albert Lea High School boys’ swimming and diving team Tuesday night.

The Tigers won big, beating the Winhawks 113-71 in a Big Nine dual meet.

Albert Lea won nine of 12 events, including all three relays.

Mitch Johnson, Ethan Berg, Ben Schreiber and Chris Jackson teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay. Jackson, Ryan Lowe, Colton Jensen and Ben Matheson took the 200 freestyle relay. Ben Lindeman, Johnson, Lowe and Berg won the 400 free relay.

Five Tigers won individual events: Lindeman, 200 free; Johnson, 200 IM; Berg, 50 free; Lowe, 100 free; and Schreiber, 100 breast.

Other Albert Lea places: Jensen, third, 200 free; Chris Borge, fourth, 200 free; Schreiber, third, 200 IM; Josh Elwood, fifth, 200 IM and fourth, 100 butterfly; Lowe, fourth, 50 free; Justin Elwood, fifth, 50 free and third, 100 butterfly; Adam Muilenburg, third, diving; Matt Stoneking, fourth, diving; Matheson, second, 100 butterfly and second, 100 breast; Jackson, third, 100 free and fourth, 100 breast; Matt Hagen, fifth, 100 free; Lindeman, second, 500 free; Johnson, third, 100 back; Berg, fourth, 100 back.

The Tigers, 7-2, compete at Farmington Thursday.
