HAYFIELD – The Albert Lea High School wrestling team finished fifth out of 13 schools in Saturday’s Hayfield Invitational.

HAYFIELD – The Albert Lea High School wrestling team finished fifth out of 13 schools in Saturday’s Hayfield Invitational.

Blue Earth Area won with 189 points, followed by Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland with 167, Hayfield 147, Stewartville 132.5, Albert Lea 123, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 122.5, Southland 85.5, United South Central 82.5, Blooming Prairie 62, Lewiston-Altura 47, Rushford-Peterson 44, Chisago Lakes 16.5 and Elmore Academy 7.

The Tigers had one champion in junior Josh Hansen at 103 pounds. He improved his record to 26-1.

Two other Albert Leans reached the finals before falling.

Adam Elseth sustained his first loss of the season in the 135-pound title bout, leaving him 26-1. Justin Krueger finished second at 160, improving his record to 20-8.

Brandon Klukow went 2-2 at 125 to finish fourth, running his record to 16-10. Chris Hable was 2-2 while placing fourth at heavyweight; his record is 8-18.

Other Albert Lea placewinners, with weight and season record: Dustin Eggum, fifth, 152, 9-8; Derek Goodnature, fifth, 171, 7-11; Adam Morreim, sixth, 140, 18-10.

The Tigers are off until Thursday, when they travel to Winona for a Big Nine dual meet.
