JANESVILLE – The Alden-Conger wrestlers ended the team portion of the 2001-02 season with a 55-15 loss to St. Clair in the section tournament at Janesville Saturday.
Shaun Whelan won by fall for the Knights at 112 pounds, as did David Schmidt at 152. Alex Drescher won a 5-1 decision at heavyweight.
The Knights forfeited six matches, giving up 36 points. The rest of the lineup included Trevor Nelson, 103; Will Petersen, 130; Tyler Ignaszewski, 135; and Matt Kalis, 171.
&uot;St. Clair came out after us very tough,&uot; said Knights coach Rick Loock.
Medford won the tournament and a return trip to state.
The Knights will wrestle in the individual section tournament Friday at 4:30 and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Kenyon. The top two individuals at each weight advance to state.
