Now they’re on opposite sides with very different squads, and Rayman’s veteran crew had its way Friday with an 82-39 decision at Glenville.

&uot;We’re a young team,&uot; said Bosma, whose squad fell to 2-14 in his first season at the helm. &uot;They’ve got senior leadership, and they really can shoot the three when they’re on.&uot;

That’s what happened Friday as the Wolverines nailed 12 shots from beyond the arc, a mark which could be a school record. The Wolverines improved their record to 12-3.

&uot;It’s fun to win, and it’s been fun for the kids,&uot; said Rayman, who hasn’t had a winning record in five seasons at Glenville. &uot;It’s been a long time coming and it feels good.&uot;

The young Knights looked like they were feeling an upset early, leading most of the first quarter before settling for a 14-14 tie.

&uot;They played real tough early,&uot; said Rayman. &uot;You’ve just got to give Bos some time. It’s frustrating for them this year, but if they stick together they’ll have some fun next year.&uot;

The Wolverines had most of the fun after the first quarter, taking a 35-21 halftime lead and stretching it to 57-28 after three periods.

&uot;Our defense really picked up in the second half,&uot; said Rayman. &uot;And we shot the ball real well.&uot;

They also shot it a lot, going 31-for-71 overall from the field and 12-for-28 on threes. They were 8-for-12 from the line while outrebounding the Knights 44-32. Alden-Conger was 13-for-25 from the line. The Wolverines had only eight turnovers, the Knights nine.

Bosma didn’t have the Knights field-goal totals.

&uot;That was a big killer,&uot; he said.

The Wolverines’ leaders: Paul Kleven 19 points, four assists, four rebounds; Chase Rayman 17 points, seven rebounds; Nick Flatness 13 points, six rebounds; Matt Webb eight points; Richie Mathis six points, four assists; Jacob Hansen nine rebounds, six points; Mike Yocom five points; Maurice Chessmore seven rebounds, four points; Mitch Meier six assists; Matt Learn two points; Zach Adams two points.

Brett Penning led the Knights with 16 points. Ben Faugstad scored 10, Josh Wills seven, Tyler Hintz six.
