Three charter members have been inducted into the newly organized Albert Lea Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame: Mabel Miller, Fran Ashcraft and Jeanette O’Connor.
Mabel Miller was involved in bowling for 53 years. She was president of the local association for 25 years, director on the state board for 10 years, second vice president on the state board for five years and president of the state board for nine years. Miller is also a member of the Minnesota Bowling Hall of Fame. She has earned many local and state awards for meritorious service to bowling. She is a life member of the state and local association and still attends many meetings a year.
Fran Ashcraft was involved in bowling for 50 years, serving as secretary of the local association for 25 years, director on the state board for five years and holding every office in the local association. She too is a member of the Minnesota Bowling Hall of Fame and has received many local and state awards for her service to bowling. Ashcraft coached junior bowling in Albert Lea for 14 years. She is a life member of the Albert Lea Women’s Bowling Association and still serves on a committee.
Jeanette O’Connor was involved in bowling for more than 40 years. She was treasurer of the local association for 10 years and has held all offices on the league level.
