Some employees of the Albert Lea School District got an unexpected message from their banks this past week. Their paychecks were returned for insufficient funds.
According to Mark Stotts, district finance and operations director, the glitch resulted from a mistake at the bank. Funds from one school district account weren’t transferred into another account in time to cover the checks. The problem affected checks for at least 50 people.
The bank erroneously returned the checks, Stotts said, including one made out to him. Wells Fargo will cover any fees charged to customers because of the problem, he added. Those affected should contact Wells Fargo for more information.
