Clara B. Mallon, 86, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Clara B. Mallon of 416 Railroad Ave., Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, at the United Methodist Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. James W. Hann will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.
Clara died on Sunday morning, April 28, 2002, at the Austin Medical Center. She was 86.
She was born on June 15, 1915, on a farm near Twin Lakes, the daughter of
Ingvald 0. and Emma (Jacobson) Lyngaas. She attended country school in Freeborn County District #45 and then helped on the family farm.
On Feb. 19,1942, she married Roy W. Mallon in Albert Lea. They made their home in Freeborn County and then had lived in their home on Railroad Avenue since 1948.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, especially her roses. Clara was a wonderful cook and baker and made “the best” chocolate chip cookies. She was very devoted to her family and she treasured the time spent with them.
Clara is survived by four children: Ronald Mallon and his wife Susan of Brooklyn Park, Donna and her husband Grant Shold of Sauk Rapids, Marilyn and her husband Paul Nechanicky of Albert Lea, and Duane Mallon and his wife Roxy of Albert Lea; 10 grandchildren: Amy Mallon of Robbinsdale, Chris Mallon of Crystal, Dawn and her husband Chad Walz of St. Cloud, Sara Shold and Brad Shold, both of Sauk Rapids, Mark Nechanicky and his wife Taryn of Ann Arbor, Mich., Lisa Nechanicky and Laura Nechanicky, both of Albert Lea, Justin Reicherts of Albert Lea, and Stacy and her husband Ryan Cafourek of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren: Caitlin Mallon, Ashlie Clara Walz, and Logan Reicherts; three sisters: Helen Freitag of Muscatine, Iowa, Martha Rasmussen of Albert Lea, and Gladys Bergland of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy, in 1984; her sisters: Jorgina Overland, Olga Joachim and Ida Henderson; and a brother, Oliver Lyngaas.
