There’s sure to be something for everyone at the Gala Event’s silent auction.
Mary Hacker, committee chairwoman, said there will be 250 items or better for people to bid on.
There will be everything from gas grills and furniture to tools and tackle boxes. Lamps, commemorative coins, T-shirts, pottery, gift sets and gift certificates galore will be featured. Local artists will share their talents and have donated items for the auction, including prints, sculptures and quilts.
&uot;This year, we’re putting some weekend packages together, and we’ll package things like golf passes and umbrellas. We’ll package the fun stuff,&uot; Hacker said. &uot;We’ll have some minimum bids on the packages.&uot;
Bidding will take place from 8-11 p.m. during the Gala, which is Saturday, April 27, at the Albert Lea National Guard Armory. There will be instructions on the program on bidding.
People can pay for the items they purchase with cash or check. Those who do not pay that night will be billed, but a finance charge will be assessed if the bill is not paid in 30 days.
Hacker said she began making calls to local artists in December and January to allow them time to create something special. Some 250 calls to businesses were made in February and March, and items continue to pour in daily.
&uot;We’ve really gotten a good response from the donors,&uot; Hacker said. &uot;The scholarship fund is a really big deal here.&uot;
