The board has already approved a concept design by Minneapolis-based Boarman, Kroos, Vogel (BKV) Group, and decided to designate the engineering company as an architect for the new facility.

The company is currently working on a schematic design while preparing bidding for the demolition of the Western Grocer building. Meanwhile, county administration has started exploring funding for the center, which is estimated to cost around $20 million.

The idea to hire a management firm is to oversee the construction process and keep the track of expenses of the project.

The board will also review its resolution in the last meeting to promote outreach efforts to the public about the project.

Other items on agenda:

– The establishment of a part-time Human Service Technician position with the Domestic Abuse Project operating through the Mental Health Center.

– The repair and improvement of a separable part of county ditches 16 and 28.

– An agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation for mill and overlay of CASH No. 46.
