Emma B. Frey, 84, Wells

Funeral services for Emma B. Frey, 84, of Wells, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Wells, with The Rev. Charles England, Dr. John Sherman and Dr. Sheldon Schearer officiating. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Sunday, April 28, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 6 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery in Estherville, Iowa at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

She died Thursday, April 25, 2002 at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Emma was born Sept. 10, 1917, the daughter of Eli and Bertha (Berg) Anfinson in Burt, Iowa. She grew up in northern Iowa, living in Estherville for many years. Emma graduated from Maple Hill High School.

She married The Rev. Bernard H. Frey on May 18, 1936, in Minneapolis. She shared ministries with her husband in Waterville, Minn.; White, S.D.; and Wells. They moved to Wells in 1955 and she had been a resident of The Shepherds Inn the last three and a half years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She worked for many years at the Wells Nutrition Site and was a member of the Wells Hospital Auxiliary. Emma enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and sharing Norwegian traditions with her family.

She is survived by a son, Duane and his wife Olive Frey of Fort Worth, Texas; three daughters, Barbara and her husband Dr. John Sherman of Minneapolis, Marcia and her husband Dr. Sheldon Schearer of Great Falls, Mont., and Debra and her husband Brian Boldt of Owatonna; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, in 1974; her parents; a sister, Jeanette Balmer; and a brother, Lloyd Anfinson.
